2012 USMS Summer Nationals
In 2008, the USA Swimming Olympic Trials were contested in the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Two 50-meter state of the art Myrtha Pools were erected and the 8-day Trials event was broadcast live every night on NBC. More than 160,000 fans attended. Omaha became “Swim Town USA.”
In 2012, the USA Swimming Olympic Trials will once again return to Omaha and this time the USMS Summer Nationals will follow the USA Swimming Olympic Trials. All the pageantry from the Olympic Trials will be in place for the USMS Summer Nationals. Event heats will be broadcast live in the Qwest Center on the JumboTron. We will produce and broadcast our daily USMS SwimCenter from Omaha. Get your picture taken on the Olympic Trials podium.
The competition pool has ten 9-foot wide lanes. The warm-up pool has eight 50-meter lanes and an additional six 25-meter lanes. Masters swimmers will be racing in the very same pool using the very same blocks as Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin, Dara Torres and all the Olympic hopefuls. Some past Olympians will enter our Nationals adding to the excitement.
The lower bowl of 3,500 stadium style seats is connected to the competition pool deck and will be open for teams to sit in. Teams with 20 or more registered will have reserved seating closest to the pool deck.
The energy for our Nationals will be electric. This is guaranteed to be the one Nationals you will not want to miss!

Swim for Life Across Lake Washington
Swim for Life is an annual 2.5 mile, team-based swim across Lake Washington from Medina Beach Park to Madison Park. A team is four or fewer swimmers and a kayaker, so you always have a safety boat near you.
This combination builds team spirit and a collective feeling of accomplishment; many swimmers who meet each other in this event continue to swim together over the year and return as a team the next year.

7th Annual Brent Rice Memorial Swim
The Brent Rice Memorial swim of the sound is a 2.3 mile open water swim in fifty degree water, from the Des Moines Beach Park to Point Robinson on Maury Island. The swim has grown from eight swimmers the first year, growing to as many as fifty swimmers in 2010 and this year we would like to have as many adventurous athletes possible join us in our quest to Swim the Sound. The swim is run by volunteers, lifeguards, the Des Moines Fire Department and the US Coast Guard.
Swimmers who want to participate must be intermediate or advanced; although this is a fun event and for a great cause, the sound is very treacherous. Donors, sponsors, athletes and volunteers who are interested can get more information on our website The date of the 7th anuual open water swim is Saturday August 25, 2012.

70th Roy Webster Cross-Channel Swim
Location: Hood River Vistors Center 720 E Port Marina Drive Hood River, OR 97031
At dawn on Labor Day each year, a large group of hearty souls jumps in the mighty Columbia River and swims the 1.1-mile stretch across to Hood River. This is the annual Hood River County Chamber of Commerce’s Cross Channel Swim. The swim, which annually attracts close to 500 participants from around the world, originated in 1942 when local orchardist Roy Webster challenged himself to swim across the river.
On the day of the swim, participants board the famous Sternwheeler paddleboat on the south shore of the Columbia at the Hood River Port to be ferried across the river to the Washington shore. When signaled, swimmers jump off the Sternwheeler into the “refreshing” Columbia and head back for Hood River. To help them find their way, a special swim lane lined with volunteers in sail boats, kayaks, and paddle board are there to guide, encourage, and protect swimmers as they cross the channel.
